Just bumped into a game on Steam, called Eternal Silence. Its a Source engine mod, and its free to play online through steam if you have ANY game installed that uses the Source system... here's the link for a list of them.

Basically, its like BF 2142 kinda. Where there's two teams trying to destroy each others space battleship, but each battleship is protected by 3 smallers ships, and the teams have to launch from the battleships in 7 different starfighters to dogfight and take down the corvets. Once the picket ships are destroyed, you can board the enemy battleship and fight for 3 control points inside to capture it.
The space battle can continue to rage however, and the battleships exchange fire constantly. So eventually one will blow the other away (sort of like the continued missile barrage in 2142) depending how well ths space combat has/is going.
So anyways, its free to play and fun as hell. Sadly there's not too many players dedicated to it. They all bunch up in 2 or 3 servers though so its cool. Hope to see yuns there.
p.s. OH, spaceflight is vectored, like um.. terminus, no more like jumpgate.
Sometimes you have to suffer for the sake of your art. But if you're lucky you can have someone else suffer for your entertainment.
